Reopening
With this week the new and improved Exhibit Commons has been launched. What we did was reorganize the site to be more welcoming to other museums and to provide better operations and organization of the site. Let me explain.
Now www.exhibitcommons.org is really a portal/common interest site, a place to collect, find and share experiences where everyone can participate in creating their own museum experience. At Exhibit Commons experiences are organized by institution and medium. Once you choose a institution you wish to explore you will be sent to their web site where you will find what their Exhibit Commons experiences. This allows each location to manage submittals/participation. In addition we have divided experiences between exhibits and tours.
New sections include: exhibition and tours – two different mediums we feel lend themselves initially to the commons, and we kept the blog and will be utilizing it regularly.
And now we have added two new links to the site: MOMA and Art Mobs. Both are groups that are inviting people or students in making different interpretations of exhibits via tours.
We will update more changes to the site in coming days, but we also want to salute John Leonard. John has been the page designer and programmer for the Exhibit Commons web site since it first began. John was the designer of the new site you are using as well as the Liberty Science Center web site, John, as of 3 March, left Liberty Science Center to pursue new work. We at Exhibit Commons wish to thank John for all his great work and wish him well in his job. Good Luck John!
